So it's the end of the day. I am sitting here reading blogs and the city police have an S-10 pulled over in front of my house. That guy must have been straight (not in a sexual preference but maybe in a drug sense...lol) and he drove off after the cop questions.
Not everybody is so lucky around here. It seems that there are more than a few driving around with serious infractions going on, and they end up getting their car hauled away on a flatbed.
But I don't have that problem. I currently don't have a car. Yes, I do miss the freedom of having one. But when I look across the street and gas is $3.09 a gallon, I really don't miss it. When I think about the ungodly cost of basic PLPD car insurance, I am thankful not to get that bill every month.
When you walk somewhere instead of driving, or you ride your bike, you do feel kind of good about what you are doing, not because you are making such a great difference in helping our world, but you are not adding to the distress either. Walking and bicycling are both exercise, and they make you feel good inside.
Nightline is yammering on here in the living room (I like to listen to the tv while sitting at the computer), and they mentioned a little while ago about oil getting to $100 a barrel. So how high will a gallon of gas get? My immediate concern is how high will everything else get? And how much higher will bus fare go...lol, or not?!?
How is it possible that we as Americans have done god-awful things to our earth and atmosphere in the name of progress, and because of all this material stuff that seems so important, we are killing our home and our bottom line. Sorry, I got off on a tangent, but really, when will we say ENOUGH?
I can say that one of the big changes in my home because of the high cost of living is that we eat many more vegetarian meals, because meat prices are just so high (for quality, healthy cuts). Even eggs and fish are expensive, but still a bit more reasonable than chicken or beef.
So, we should try to save what earth is left for our children's children's children, but how about saving ourselves and a reasonable quality of life for all? Any ideas, suggestions, comments, criticisms, etc., feel free to comment. I am curious to see how the Blogster community feels about saving the people!
